Genesis Drops G80 In Pot of Inky Paint

As in vogue, the Genesis brand is introducing a Black trim package for its large and comfy G80 sedan in the 2025 model year.

This is actually the fourth Genesis model to adopt the trend, following the GV80 and its cousin GV80 Coupe plus the flagship G90 four-door. Key clues as to the presence of this package on a Genesis are, well, the obvious inky black paint and raft of darkened trim pieces. Bit and bobs hit with the ray gun include the grille, Genesis badge, window moldings, and some bezels inside the headlamps. Even the cover pattern over the ADAS sensor gets murdered out.

None of this would look right without black wheels, of course, and the Genesis supplier was only happy to oblige with this set of 20-inch dubs. Inside the cabin, stylists also went mad with the project goals, applying dark finishes to everything from the ventilation buttons and door switches to the paddle shifters and speaker grilles. It must surely be a dour place, like sitting in a coal bin. Still, there’s plenty of market for such a machine.

Genesis has been busy applying updates to other models in its lineup, with the all-electric GV60 most notably receiving the greatest number of revisions at the moment, though that is technically for the 2026 model year. Big sellers like the GV70 (both the EV and gasser variants) get some small but meaningful alterations for 2025, such as wireless smartphone mirroring along with the usual shuffle of paint colors.

At present, the G80 Black has only been announced for overseas market but there’s a 99 and a bunch more 9s percent chance it will be offered stateside later this year.
