If there is one thing every fan of High Potential can expect, it’s that every episode ends on an emotional note, and “The RAMS” was no different. Raise your hand if you were floored by the revelation of what the episode title meant.
Another thing viewers should expect is that every episode features a case that could easily receive a part two. If you’re anything like this TV Fanatic, you likely noticed that the case in this episode felt like it could’ve been fleshed out into quite a few parts.
Maybe it was for the best because even with Morgan’s High Potential, she struggled in this episode. Then again, I have a feeling all that baseball knowledge will come in handy down the road, as does every other random fact floating in her big brain.
Also, it has to be said that Karadec is clearly developing feelings for Morgan, much to the chagrin of many viewers.
The Drama On High Potential Seems To Be Getting Messier With Every Episode In The Best Way
Listen, it’s not that I don’t think Karadec and Morgan would make for a cute couple, but it is so much fun to watch Morgan mess with him.
And, you know that will go right out the window if things get spicy.
Besides, their coupling would be an HR nightmare for Captain Soto, and she’s got her hands full making good on her agreement with Morgan.
The woman has been hard at work on Roman’s case since High Potential Season 1 Episode 2.
If you read the reviews for previous episodes, you know that I kept an eagle-eyed view for any and all mentions of Roman’s disappearance.
Well, High Potential came back with receipts in a big way because we’re fully in it now. Also, was anyone else surprised that Ava waited so long to tell Morgan that she overheard Selena tell her mom that Roman was definitely taken?
Furthermore, if Morgan knew that information, why hadn’t she shared it with Ava before now? I guess it comes down to her not wanting to give Ava any false hope.
That would be so like Mama Morgan.
Is Mama Morgan A Little Too Good At Mothering, Or Is She Funneling All That Brain Power Into Being A Good Mom?
One thing I don’t know whether to praise or ding High Potential for is how easy Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) makes mothering look. I don’t have a kid, but I know things should be a hell of a lot messier.
That one is tough to wrap my head around because Morgan has made it abundantly clear that her brain is a minefield of distractions.
If you’re a mom who can make sense of this for the childless viewers, please sound off in the comments. Make it make sense because even the best of moms don’t smile as much as Morgan does.
Lord knows poor Tom has been the latest unfortunate casualty to Morgan’s ever-preoccupied mind having accidentally disregarded his messages.
That might be the most relatable aspect of Morgan because who here hasn’t completely forgotten to respond to messages while juggling five different things at once?
At least Tom is a good sport and kind of came around in the end. Now, if he had seen the way Karadec was looking at Morgan towards the end of the episode, the situation might have been very different.
High Potential Has No Shortage Of Eye Candy, Whether Good Or Bad Guy
One thing that “The RAMS” revealed is that Karadec apparently has real game under that brooding and mysterious exterior.
Detective by day and smooth operator by night, Karadec has himself a little black book of former loves, and it seems like the District Attorney is one of them.
Still, that tall drink of water may not even realize that he’s developing feelings for his partner. Ten bucks says he’ll drop some kind of hint in the High Potential Season 1 finale.
At this point, we can only speculate, but we are only one episode away from the conclusion of this incredible show’s premiere season.
However, before we reach what will surely be an epic ending, there’s still murder afoot and killers to catch.
Speaking of killers, it would be great if High Potential could stop making all the sleazy bad guys and killers so damn hot.
First, there was the victim in “Dirty, Rotten, Scoundrel,” who had abs of steel that sunk him to the bottom of a tub after defrauding vulnerable women.
Then there was the sleazy ex of the victim in High Potential Season 1 Episode 5, who was a bodybuilding jerk. However, without him, Morgan may not have solved the case.
Now, we have a ridiculously hot Frenchman who ran over the beloved victim not once but twice to make sure the deed was done. Tiana has terrible taste in men.
High Potential Is Quick With The Misdirection, Continuing To Keep Audiences on Their Toes With Impeccable Writing
Speaking of Tiana, I can’t be the only one who thought she was going to be Marvin’s daughter.
The setup was right there, but I guess it would have been too heartbreaking if Tiana realized her lover killed the father she didn’t know she had.
Still, I can hardly blame the girl because I’d try to keep that guy from being deported too. However, the line, “Get him sent back to France,” seemed a bit out of place. France doesn’t seem like the country one runs from but rather saves up to visit, right?
Then again, my detecting skills were utter garbage in “The RAMS” because I thought for sure the killer was Steve Guttenberg.
For the young viewers out there, Guttenberg is a household name if you were alive in the ’80s and ’90s. The man has been acting for almost five decades and is still making the rounds to this day.
In the spirit of total honesty, I had no idea the actor was still hard at work because I genuinely thought he retired. That’s my bad because the man has been in so many projects, from The Goldbergs to Ballers and, now, his latest venture, Paper Empire.
(Editor’s Note: Kudos to Guttenberg for his incredibly selfless work during the Palisades fire.)
So, you’re in the right boat if you also thought an actor as prolific as Guttenberg must be the killer. Weirdly, I’m glad he wasn’t because it would be great to see his character pop up again.
If that happens, though, it’ll have to be in the next season because I have a feeling things are going to take a hard focus on Roman over the next couple of episodes.
Now that the rather shady Gio is on the case, there’s no telling what is going to happen next. For one thing, is anyone else still confused about why he went into a church at the end?
Was that supposed to show that he’s a man of God? Or that he’s trying to turn over a new leaf? Or is the church some kind of cover for his business dealings? So many questions!
Morgan’s potential love interests be damned because the woman has only one man on her mind, and that’s her ex. Isn’t that how it always goes, though?
Can you believe, as of this review, that ABC still hasn’t given High Potential a renewal?
Do you think Gio will come back with real information for Morgan?
Do you agree that Karadec seems to be developing feelings for Miss Gillory?
