Acura Teases the Return of the RSX – As An Electric Crossover

The Acura RSX is on its way back after almost 20 years in hiding, but this won’t be an enthusiast-friendly two-door car with an available manual transmission like its predecessor. Like so many great things in the auto industry, the RSX is returning as a crossover, and this time it won’t have VTEC.

Acura didn’t share any details or a release date for the electric RSX, but the single camouflaged image we got shows a vehicle with a shape vaguely similar to the Integra sedan. That said, the ADX will be out soon, which is a direct descendant of the sporty sedan.

Unlike the Acura ZDX, this EV will ride on an in-house platform instead of architecture shared with General Motors. The RSX will carry Acura’s new software interface, called Asimo OS, which debuted at this year’s CES, and it’s expected to arrive on dealers’ lots in early 2026.

The RSX name came on the tail end of the Integra’s initial run on the U.S. market. Though it was marketed as the Integra in Japan and elsewhere, the later cars never really captured the Integra excitement here, leaving the surprisingly fun RSX Type S deep in the shadows of the legendary Integra Type R. It’s easy to complain about another sporty name being used on a crossover, but we can at least celebrate Honda and Acura’s willingness to offer the Civic Type R and Integra Type S, plus, the new Prelude is coming soon, though its hybrid powertrain might not be that exciting for some.
