Idiot Streamer Crashes McLaren While Texting and Driving in the Rain

Look, if you’re going to do something stupid and illegal, at least don’t record yourself and post it for all of the internet to see. Though I hate the word, this “influencer” found out that filming yourself f-ing around and finding out has consequences, as Jack Doherty now has a crashed McLaren and a ban on the streaming platform Kick.

“One crime at a time,” or something like that would have likely helped Doherty, who was filmed staring at his phone while driving the McLaren at high speeds in a rain storm. Unsurprisingly, the car caught a puddle and hydroplaned into a guardrail, leaving Doherty and his passenger to be pulled from the wreck by passersby.

After filming the crash and the subsequent pedestrian rescue, during which he never let go of the camera, Doherty posted “crashed my McLaren… glad we’re both ok.” His assessment of “ok” leaves out the fact that his passenger is seen with a bloody face, clutching his arm in the video of the aftermath.

Doherty took heat for appearing to care more about his car than the person he injured during the stunt, but he posted a clip later showing his cameraman getting stitches. The stunt earned him a ban from the streaming platform Kick, where he posted the videos. Given all of the other toxic content on the site, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Doherty back up and running at some point, though Kick’s spokesperson said the platform “does not condone illegal activity.”
