The Jeep Wagoneer S is almost ready to hit dealerships as the automaker’s first American-market EV, but the company is already teasing its next release. Today, Jeep released a shadowy image of its upcoming Compass EV, which it said is heading for a North American debut in 2026.
The Compass EV will ride on Stellantis’ STLA Medium Platform, which also forms the basis of some European models. It’s slated for a European release ahead of its North American debut, where top trims are targeting a 435-mile range on the WLTP cycle and 310 miles for cheaper configurations. It’s worth noting that WLTP range estimates are typically more generous than the EPA’s, so the SUV will likely land in the U.S. with somewhere between 325 and 400 miles of range.
Jeep’s teaser image shows a muscular SUV with beefy wheel arches and a boxy front end. The automaker said it will get an aerodynamic shape and illuminated grille, but has so far not shared much detail on the upcoming EV.
The company is expected to release the Recon EV after the Wagoneer S and has promised an electric Renegade SUV with a price tag starting under $25,000. Jeep is looking to transform itself with electrification, as its recent sales numbers show a significant slide over the last few years, with double-digit percentage drops. Though it expects that trend to reverse itself, Jeep has a long way to go to reclaim the attention of buyers it’s lost.
