Lifetime Channels Musical Icons for ‘Voices of a Lifetime’ 2025 Slate

We only entered 2025 a few days ago, but Lifetime is wasting no time in turning up the heat with new movie offerings that are part of the cabler’s “Voices of a Lifetime” programming strand.

The sure-to-be iconic movies will feature the “voices and legacies of three of the music industry’s most influential talents.”

The big names include Mary J. Blige, Lisa Velez (Lisa Lisa), and Gloria Gaynor. All three women have had decades-long careers in the music industry, so they have a unique perspective on the industry that will help inform these movies.

Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair – Premiering Saturday, January 25, at 8/7c

Mary J. Blige’s Family Affair picks up as Kendra (Ajiona Alexus) and Ben (Da’Vinchi) move out of the city in hopes of finally building a life together.

With all their family around and inserted in their lives, tensions rise as they struggle with fertility issues, and Kendra tries to find her footing with Ben’s son Miles.

Their relationship reaches a boiling point when Ben secretly helps his brother, Kendra, return to the city, and an old friend comes back into her life. The family must come together to help Kendra and Ben save their relationship and stay true to their real love.

It sounds like an exciting movie, and we’re sure it will be even more exciting because it’s actually inspired by Mary’s iconic hit, “Family Affair.”

The movie also reunites the couple at the center of Mary J. Blige’s Real Love and Mary J. Blige’s Strength of a Woman, so we’re sure this movie will come with a built-in audience, eagerly anticipating what comes next for the characters.

Can You Feel The Beat: The Lisa Lisa Story – Premieres Saturday, February 1, at 8/7c

Lisa Lisa is getting the authorized biopic treatment in this Lifetime movie, with Jearnest Corchado taking on the role of the proven hitmaker.

As a 15-year-old Puerto Rican girl from Hell’s Kitchen, Lisa Velez endured sexism and racism and hid her breast cancer diagnosis to become the first Latina artist to hit multiple music Billboard charts, including songs “Can You Feel The Beat,” “All Cried Out,” and “Lost in Emotion.”

Lisa’s constant companion through her tumultuous ride to the top was her best friend and backup singer, Toni Ménage (Bre-Z). Toni’s unwavering support helped Lisa learn how to take control of her professional and personal life.

This true-life story of two best friends who refused to allow themselves to be destroyed by the entertainment business is filled with twists and turns and ends triumphantly as the two refuse to give up on their dreams.

This sounds like another winner for Lifetime, but we’ll reserve judgment until it premieres next month.

Robin Roberts Presents I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story – Premieres Saturday, February 8 at 8/7c

The film focuses on Gaynor’s rise to fame, from her humble beginnings to becoming one of the most iconic voices in music history.

Dubbed America’s “Queen of Disco,” the movie will feature many of the songs that catapulted Gaynor to the top of the charts, including her legendary hit “I Will Survive,” which became a cultural phenomenon and a powerful anthem of empowerment for millions worldwide.

The biopic will also delve into Gaynor’s deeply personal challenges, including overcoming her long and tumultuous marriage to her husband and manager.

As if that wasn’t enough Gloria Gaynor, Lifetime will also air the documentary titled Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive on the same night.

Over to you, TV Fanatics. Which of these movies are you most excited about?
