Well, that was eerie and left me wanting more.
Mayfair Witches Season 2 Episode 6 sent Rowan, Moira, Cortland, and Lark to Scotland, hoping to find Lasher and unravel Ian’s plans.
Unfortunately, when they arrived in Kilbride, they were no match for what awaited them, and things went from bad to worse.
As has become customary with Mayfair Witches, everyone made terrible decisions.
It was on another level during “Michaelmas” that left everyone facing death’s door with no way out, but they somehow found a way to do stupid things.

My biggest eye-roll moment came from Cortland, Rowan, and Lark leaving the city center with Hamish after Moira went missing.
If my cousin or anyone in my party went missing, the last thing on my mind would be moving on to the next destination.
Understandably, the trio wanted to learn more about the place and Ian’s motivations, but this could have been easily explained by whoever took Moira to text the group from her phone to say that she’d catch up with them.
Mayfair Witches Season 2 Episode 6 Divided the Family
Moira’s mind-reading skills were crucial to the triumph of the family’s plans to find Lasher and get him back from Ian, so losing her set the tone for the rest of the hour.

It’s a shame we never got any update about Moira’s whereabouts. That said, her walking into the bar from Julien’s victrola pretty much sealed her fate.
Since we’ve already lost her sister, her mother, and her other sister is trapped in a hex, losing Moira wouldn’t be satisfying.
Alyssa Jirrels has turned in a remarkable performance as this young woman struggling with the supernatural forces that keep taking members of her family from her.
It’s rare for someone to make such an impression on a show after so few episodes, but Moira is ingrained in the Mayfair Witches’ DNA and has been one of the best elements of Mayfair Witches Season 2 so far.

If anything happens to her, assuming the series is returning for Season 3 at AMC, it will squander much storyline potential.
The writing, production, and acting were on point when the other three arrived at Ian’s home because there’s so much we don’t know about this side of the family. The series played with expectations very well.
Ian rules everything, and everyone falls in line because they fear what he will do to them if they don’t.
Due to this, everything that transpired in the home was unpredictable and quite unnerving, even by Mayfair Witches’ standards.

Rowan’s agreement to stay for dinner and, in turn, overnight was one of her stupidest decisions yet. It highlights that she will go to the ends of the earth to find Lasher, even if it puts everyone else in danger.
There’s been much debate about whether Alexander Daddario has been too subdued for this kind of role, but she’s upped her game this season to the point that I was almost buying some of Rowan’s actions.
Rowan Is Finally Coming Into Her Own
On the one hand, her actions allow us to learn more about how things work in Kilbride. On the other hand, she puts everyone in mortal danger.
Her plan to get answers by finding some common ground with Hamish was good in theory because she’d been outside the Mayfair family since her lineage was revealed.

But how could she trust anything he said after meeting him earlier that day and how he treated everyone during the car ride?
If anything, he has the same short temper as his father, who you don’t want to mess with. Mayfair Witches does have some of the most despicable men on TV.
Hamish’s throwaway comment about the tunnels beneath the house set up the episode-ending reveal quite well because I didn’t think Rowan would be stupid enough to go alone.
Could we be in for a reveal that Hamish has his agenda here and could want to use Rowan for something else? It would be far more intriguing than him following his father’s orders.
Either way, Rowan will have to utilize her powers in ways she never thought to escape from what awaits her in the tunnels.

Rowan’s powers manifest in strange ways, and Ian’s life of being tethered to his youngest daughter was a surprisingly effective development.
At some point, Rowan needs to realize that surviving means making more morally grey decisions, and I’m getting the impression that she’ll kill every single family member in Kilbride.
The Family in Kilbride is Insane
There’s something amiss with everyone, as evidenced by their nonchalant attitude to wearing Albrecht’s skin as a mask at the party. Like, what the hell was that?
And poor Lark, the human, understood that something was amiss. Sadly, he also made some bad decisions, so he lost some points with me.

I’d love for someone to explain how he went from telling Rowan they needed to leave because they were wearing people’s skin on their faces to rolling around in bed with her.
The odds will be stacked against him when he awakens the next day because he’s a human in a home filled with devil-worshippers.
While the episode was filled with people making wrong moves, it was still interesting because it represented a bold leap forward for Mayfair Witches.
Expanding the scope has been interesting because it’s showcased that this universe has so much more to offer. The said, I do have an issue with the continued teases of The Talamasca.

Did we need to follow Sip to Amsterdam to demand Albrecht’s job? These scenes would be better served as an epilogue to the season that sets up The Talamasca.
They detract from the show’s better storylines. Mayfair Witches should be about the witches and everything plaguing them.
Overall, Mayfair Witches Season 2 Episode 6 had the potential to be the series’ best, but the bad decisions and focus on the Talamasca took away from the good.
What are your thoughts on the trip to Scotland? How do you think it will end?
