Mitsubishi Updates Outlander with Revised Interior, Yamaha Stereo

Building on a model which was completely overhauled for 2022, designers at Mitsubishi have gifted the Outlander some meaningful upgrades.

Work focused on the interior, where customers of the 2025 model will find a new center console with the locations of its cupholders and parking brake shifted around to make better use of available space. New upholstery colors are also mentioned in the bumf, though it is hard to tell in these hero images if that’s a rose gold type of hue or a brownish color that simply isn’t displaying correctly on my laptop screen.

The brand doesn’t mention any changes to the infotainment system but a quick comparo of last year’s car and this new model seem to suggest a slightly bigger screen is on tap along with a rethink of button placement. Fortunately, it looks like a real dial for volume control will remain. Speaking of audio, a new sound system bearing the Yamaha brand will be available for 2025, billed as the first time Yamaha has developed an in-car audio system for a North American-market vehicle.

The current Outlander has been atop Mitsu’s sales charts for some spell now, delivering 40,804 copies across gasoline-powered and plug-in hybrid variants through the first three quarters of this year. This number represents nearly half of all new Mitsubishis sold during that time frame. On a year-to-date basis, deliveries of 82,718 units represent an increase of 22.1 percent compared to last year.

If you’re wondering where the brand ranks in terms of the overall picture, total sales in 2023 landed at 87,340 vehicles, placing Mitsu ahead of outfits like Lincoln and Infiniti. True, those are not direct competitors but do provide a sense of scale. Meanwhile, brands like Ford and Toyota were close to 2 million.

The 2025 Outlander is expected to appear on Mitsubishi lots across the America in late February.
