Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Finale Review: My Best Friend’s Wedding

Oh. My. God. Are you done crying yet?

Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Episode 10 was, without a doubt, the best episode of the entire series.

We got everything we could’ve wanted: a resolution to Sazz’s murder, a new guest star, and a fresh body to set the stage for Only Murders in the Building Season 5.

But, more importantly, we got a happy ending. Everything was wrapped up in a neat little bow, and I loved every second of it.

The episode’s real magic, though, was in highlighting the bond between our beloved trio.

I’m floored by how Charles and Oliver didn’t hesitate to risk everything for Mabel — especially Oliver.

Watching him dash past Loretta when she arrived at the Arconia is one thing, but seeing him step out onto the ledge with Charles, using his wedding dance moves to show Charles how to get across? Blown away.

Oliver has come so far, and it’s clear that his relationship with Loretta has played a huge part in that transformation.

As much as I’ve griped about her, I’m convinced now that without her, we might never have seen this side of Oliver.

And Loretta’s understanding of Oliver’s bond with Charles and Mabel? So sweet. She loves him and sees the Arconia as his true home, alongside Charles and Mabel.

When Oliver offered to follow her to New Zealand for her job, she gently reminded him that their relationship has always been unconventional — why change that now?

She didn’t make him choose, and he didn’t feel he had to. Oliver has come a long way, baby!

All Wrapped Up

Sazz’s murder was wrapped up with a full explanation, finally showing us exactly how everything went down.

Marshall, or Rex, double-crossed her in the worst way.

It’s tragic that Sazz saw potential in him, only for him to repay her by stabbing her in the back — and then killing her.

(Disney/Patrick Harbron)

Marshall’s obsession and jealousy reached a boiling point, and while his fate is sealed (thanks to Jan, no less), it leaves Charles with a bittersweet closure.

The writers even gifted us with that “ghostly” moment between Charles and Sazz on the movie set, giving him the chance to let go of any guilt he’s been carrying.

And the Westies? I loved their “ding-dong” distraction so that Oliver and Charles could make their way to Mabel’s apartment just in time to save her.

Mabel was incredibly unfazed by Marshall’s gun. Her quick thinking and ability to negotiate her way out of that situation showed us that Mabel is truly just Mabel.

The little moments between Charles, Oliver, and Mabel made this episode unforgettable.

From Charles telling Oliver how Mabel taught him to use accent marks in texts to Mabel quietly taking away Charles’s champagne at the wedding, these small gestures reveal how deeply they care for each other.

(Disney/Patrick Harbron)

And perhaps the most touching moment of all was when Charles and Mabel walked Oliver down the aisle. Seeing them at his side, supporting him on his big day, was a perfect symbol of their bond.

It wasn’t just sweet; it was a testament to how they’ve become each other’s family. This isn’t just about solving murders; it’s about friendship, loyalty, and love.

And that’s one of my favorite things about the show: their friendship is genuine. It isn’t forced or contrived, and the generational gap only makes it more endearing.

It’s rare to see a dynamic like this on television, and I love every second of it. It’s one of this show’s best elements.

I totally get a kick out of watching Charles and Oliver’s tech struggles and awkward humor while Mabel’s quiet resilience and wisdom add depth to their friendship.

And it’s not one-sided — Mabel learns from them, too, in ways she probably would never have without these friendships.

A New Mystery (and Guest Star) Awaits

I don’t know about you, but I am stoked about Tea Leoni (I love her!) stepping in as Sophia Caccimelio.

When Sophia asked the trio to investigate her husband’s disappearance — Nicky “The Neck,” aka “The Dry Cleaner King of Brooklyn” — it set up such a fantastic premise for Season 5.

Her request could have been the perfect way for our trio to expand their podcast, bringing a fresh twist to their murder-solving shenanigans. But, of course, they turned her down.

Still, her arrival added a whole new layer to the finale.

I wasn’t sure if we’d get another murder after that gorgeous wedding, and I half-expected the trio to consider Sophia’s case instead.

But this is Only Murders in the Building, after all — so naturally, we did get a body. And wow, what a shocker!

(Disney/Patrick Harbron)

The mystery seems almost too perfect. Is Lester’s murder connected to the disappearance of Sophia’s husband? The timing seems suspiciously convenient, wouldn’t you say?

And speaking of the wedding — wasn’t it absolutely exquisite?

The whole setup was beautifully done. (Okay, Mabel’s dress wasn’t my favorite, but Loretta was stunning!)

The whole thing was gorgeous, from the decorations to the warm, feel-good moments between friends. It’s the kind of scene that makes you feel like you’re right there, celebrating with them.

Hats off to Only Murders in the Building for another fantastic season and an unforgettable Season 4 finale.
