Pat Cummins will take charge of Australia’s ODI side for the first time since lifting the 2023 men’s Cricket World Cup trophy, as a 14-player squad to take on Pakistan in three 50-over matches was named on Monday. The fast bowler was rested from Australia’s tour of England and Scotland but returns for the one-day international series on home soil in time to prepare for the upcoming Test series against India.
Mitchell Marsh led Australia on the white-ball tour of the UK but will miss the ODIs against Pakistan while on paternity leave. Explosive opener Travis Head will also take paternity leave during the same period and has not been considered for the one-day series that starts in Melbourne on 4 November.
