I’ve spent most of my day flying cross-country — it’s almost time for another auto show — but I’ve been checking social media and I’ve seen the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the new Jaguar logo.
I’ve spent most of my day flying cross-country — it’s almost time for another auto show — but I’ve been checking social media and I’ve seen the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the new Jaguar logo.
I don’t like it either, it’s too generic. And Jaguar logos need to have a leaping jungle cat. Or at least a snarling one.
I don’t want to read too much into it in terms of future product or the future of the brand — at the end of the day, Jaguar will either come out of its doldrums or not based on the cars it builds. We get sentimental about logos and angry when they’re ugly (or in this case, the apparent product of too many focus groups), but other factors will be more important to the brand’s future.
That said, I’d like to ask you what you’d have done if you were trying to come up with ideas for a new Jaguar logo, especially knowing the company is promising a slate of new EVs.
You’d probably do better than the pros did.
