School Spirits Season 2 Premiere Date Revealed: Here’s Why We’re Already Concerned

The ghosts in Split River High School are scary enough already, but Paramount+ just pulled a move that is far scarier.

The streaming platform announced this morning that School Spirits Season 2 will premiere on Thursday, January 30, with a three-episode drop.

While we’re excited to get some much-needed resolution to the many mysteries School Spirits Season 1 threw our way, the fact that it premieres in just over a week is concerning.

Promotion can make or break any project, so announcing a premiere date this close to the debut date doesn’t instill hope that many people will find it.

School Spirits Season 1 had a devoted audience, but it’s hard to tell whether they’ll get the message in time that new episodes are available to devour.

Genre shows are disappearing before our very eyes, and the last thing we need is for School Spirits to face a similar fate.

There were weeks of tension following the School Spirits Season 1 finale as we waited with bated breath to find out whether the show had reached a level at which the streaming service was happy to bring it back for another season of thrills.

The series did get a second window on Netflix, which allowed countless new viewers to find it.

The promotional train could be imperative so that those viewers get the message that these episodes are exclusive to Paramount+.

School Spirits Season 2 Has A Lot Of Ground To Cover

School Spirits Season 2 will span eight episodes, right on par with the inaugural season.

Considering it was well-paced and filled with spooky happenings, it’s a good idea to keep the episode order the same.

Despite being excited about the series’ return, I’ve been forced to temper expectations with the poor job Paramount+ has done so far in the promotion department.

The good news is that the trailer promises some big developments, including Maddie confronting whether she’s alive, dead, or trapped between life and death.

The beauty of such a dilemma is that she spent much of School Spirits Season 1 worried about the things she would miss out on in life.

Now, she’s operating under the assumption she may have another chance, assuming she can catch up with Janet.

But that’s going to be difficult, considering Janet was last seen fleeing town on the back of a bus after the truth came out that she had been taking up residence in Maddie’s body.

Maddie worked so well with Simon, her best friend, who could see her after her supposed death.

It’s exciting that we already know they’ll work together in the second season to uncover the truth about the school, Janet, and Mr. Martin.

Mr. Martin Will Have A Pivotal Part in School Spirits Season 2

Of course, Mr. Martin lured all of the deceased students into a false sense of security by posing as what can only be described as a guidance counselor for the dead.

No one questioned his motivations, and everyone assumed he was there to help.

But that isn’t the case, and the hope is that the show dives right into that when the season premieres.

School Spirits broke through because it subverted expectations and flipped the script when we least expected it.

School Spirits stars Peyton List as Maddie Nears, Kristian Ventura as Simon Elroy, Spencer MacPherson as Xavier Baxter, Kiara Pichardo as Nicole Herrera, Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Nick Pugliese as Charley, Rainbow Wedell as Claire Zomer, Josh Zuckerman as Mr. Martin, and Milo Manheim as Wally Clark.

The new cast this season includes recurring guest stars Jess Gabor (Shameless) as Janet Hamilton, Zack Calderon (The Wilds) as Diego Herrera, Miles Elliot (The Amazing Spider-Man) as Yuri, and Ci Hang Ma (Presto! School of Magic) as Quinn.

Maria Dizzia, who plays Maddie’s mom, Sandra Nears, will also return as a recurring guest star, along with Patrick Gilmore as Mr. Anderson and Ian Tracey as Sheriff Baxter.
