Fans of Elsbeth don’t have to wait long to get the inside scoop on what’s in store for the finale. TV Fanatic has all the juicy details about this star-studded end to the season.
The series has become known for the episodic guest stars, who are usually the murderer of the week. It’s a chance to see familiar TV faces having a good time with homicide.
The first season of Elsbeth featured many actors who had previously appeared on sister shows The Good Wife and The Good Fight.
The current season has diversified the hiring pool by bringing in big industry-name vets to flesh out some of the more whimsical murder cases.
Who could forget Laurie Metcalf (The Conners) as Regina Coburn on Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 8 when she stabbed her producer through the eye with a stiletto heel?
The actor gave an incredible performance while actually making a gruesome slaying kind of quirky.
Well, prepare for an overload of guest stars because Elsbeth is bringing back almost every murderer from season one with a sprinkling from Elsbeth Season 2, including a few new faces.
Elsbeth Sees the Return of a Parks and Rec Alum Along with Carrie Preston’s Former Costar from True Blood
There’s no denying that Elsbeth is as campy as police procedurals come without being Reno 911!

However, whether it’s the portrayal of the killer or how the murder takes place, the series likes to toe the line of absurd humor.
If you kept up with the Elsbeth Season 1 reviews, you know I kept a tally of all the different means of murder to see how creative the writers were.
They kicked things off in a very subtle way, with Stephen Moyer‘s Alex Modarian drugging one of his students.
At this point in the series, this has to be the least dramatic killing so far, but in all fairness, Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 1 was already filled to the brim with campy humor.
This will be the first time we’ve seen Moyer’s character since the show’s premiere, and he isn’t the only deep-cut killer, either.
The fabulous Retta of Parks and Recreation fame graced Season 1 as the murdering matchmaker Margo Clarke, who killed her victim by bashing him over the head with a cupid statuette. Talk about tough love.

Funnily enough, Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 4 is one of my favorites because it gave us the fantastic quote from Elsbeth, “Lawyers always end up having sex on their desks, and you never see the stapler until it’s too late.”
Margo has been long overdue to make a comeback on the show. It’ll be interesting to see what exactly she’s doing out of jail.
Come to think of it, all of these characters should still be very much behind bars.
Not Every Killer On Elsbeth Was Oh-So Easy for the Chicago Attorney to Catch, and One Even Led to an Addition to Her Family
Remember the plastic surgeon who killed her protege with off-brand Botox by stabbing her a billion times?
Well, Gina Gershon‘s Dr. Vanessa Holmes is making another appearance despite going away for murder.

Dr. Holmes was one of the few characters who gave Miss Tascioni a run for her money.
Honestly, Vanessa probably would have gotten away with the murder if her wife hadn’t been so chatty with Elsbeth.
Of course, for every brilliant killer, there are about ten absolute idiots who either try too hard or don’t try hard enough.
Elizabeth Lail’s (Gossip Girl) Quinn Powers definitely falls into the category of killers who try way too hard to get away with their kill.
If you recall, Quinn was the CEO of a crime-tracking app who used a cattle prod to bludgeon a journalist to death who was about to reveal that the app was a scam.
However, Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 8 also gave us the titular character’s adorable pooch, Gonzo.

So, we can’t be completely mad at Quinn since her slaying of the journalist led to Elsbeth getting the canine cutie.
Again, though, shouldn’t she be in prison for the, you know, felony? What are all these first-season killers doing in one episode?
Not Even the Elsbeth Writers Can Resist Parodying Another Popular Show, Going So Far as To Make a Carbon Copy of the Main Character
Arian Moayed’s Joe Dillon and Andre De Shields’s Matteo Hart round out the first-season guest stars returning.
The name “Joe Dillon” might not ring much of a bell for you.
However, if I told you he was an obsessive bartender who stalked a patron to the point that he thought they belonged together, I bet that would jog a memory.

Oh, yes, who could forget Joe? Let’s not beat around the bush here. Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 9 was a clear and total rip-off of the Netflix series YOU. The characters even have the same first name.
He wasn’t the brightest bulb in the pack, as he killed the wrong person. It’s a shame, too, because the intended victim was a real piece of, uh, “work.”
As for Matteo Hart, well, I wouldn’t blame you if you pushed the Season 1 Finale out of your head. It was a fantastic episode that had a somewhat bittersweet ending.
Honestly, it’s hard to remember anything from Elsbeth Season 1 Episode 10 other than how excellent Laura Benanti’s Nadine Clay was. She was both fabulous and hysterical with how she “feels very strongly” about things.
As for Matteo, he was arrested for shooting a mutual friend from Matteo and Nadine’s past, but it was one of those cases where the victim sucked, and you sympathize with the killer.
So, while those were all the guest stars from Elsbeth Season 1, those aren’t the only familiar faces gracing TV screens during the finale.

Elsbeth Is Bringing in a Heavyweight Streaming Name Along with An Actor Who Starred in a Wickedly Amazing Box-Office Hit
All the viewers who tuned in for Alyssa Milano on Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 14 were treated to some of the most over-the-top acting on the show so far.
Milano has been a staple of television since the ’80s and her fame has only risen since appearing on shows like Charmed, Insatiable, and Mistresses — not to mention that she was every teen boy’s crush in the ’90s.
On “Scenes from an Italian Restaurant,” Milano played the epitome of a stereotypical Italian wife/mother who also runs the “family business.”
Milano’s portrayal would have been called crass and offensive on any other show, but on a series like Elsbeth, Pupetta’s campy quirks and acrylics were very welcomed.
While we’re rolling out the welcome mat, we might as well crack open a can of fresh new faces making their way to this police procedural.

Do you remember a little Showtime series about a single mom raising her sons who turns to selling weed to support her family? That’s right, Mary Louise-Parker is coming to Elsbeth.
Mrs. Parker will debut her character, clutter-guru Freya Frostad, on Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 16. Only this show could give fans a “clutter guru” who is likely the episodic killer.
But don’t change that dial just yet. In addition to the Weeds alum joining the list of guest stars, theater thespian Ethan Slater is also joining the list.
Ethan Slater most recently wowed audiences on screen in the hit film Wicked. Have you heard of it? It was only the biggest movie of 2024, with a much-anticipated sequel on the horizon.
Slater’s character might be a bit more mysterious than Parker’s, though, as his character’s name is Officer Reese Chandler.

Elsebeth has had its fair share of dirty cops, but if Slater’s character turns out to be the episodic killer, it’ll be the first time a boy in blue commits a murder on the show.
As impressive as seeing so many talented actors in one episode will be, it begs the question, “What the heck is going on with all of these criminals?”
There’s Only One Logical Reason All of These Past Killers Would Be in One Episode, and It Does Not Bode Well for Elsbeth Tascioni
I have a theory about that, but I am open to anyone else’s because mine does not bode well for Miss Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston).
When you think about what connects these characters, there is only one defining factor: Elsbeth Tascioni.
So, with that in mind, what is the most logical reason these criminals would all be in one episode?

Well, there is the cheapest explanation: All these characters will be featured in flashbacks about Elsbeth’s escapades in New York City.
However, that has the distinct feel of a series finale, and Elsbeth was already renewed for Season 3 in February.
The next possible reason is that it is all tied to Michael Emerson‘s Judge Milton Crawford. The judge may be rounding up the convicted killers from Elsbeth’s cases to have her removed from the NYPD or even disbarred.
Since his debut in Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 7, Judge Milton has only made one or two moves against Miss Tascioni, but we know he is still gunning for her.
If I had to guess what’s in store, I’d say Elsbeth will be brought before some committee to have her actions questioned.

The cliffhanger will likely revolve around whether Elsbeth can continue working with the NYPD.
Either way, it will be an incredible send-off to CBS‘s Elsbeth Season 2, likely having us at the edge of our seats and clamoring for more by the end.
What do you think is the reason these past killers are together in one episode?
