The Last of Us Season 2 Sets April Premiere at HBO: Check Out the Latest Trailer!

Joel and Ellie’s quest for survival in The Last of Us Season 1 concluded with Joel killing countless people, flawlessly setting up countless plots for Season 2.

Thankfully, the wait is almost over. HBO has confirmed the adaptation of the Naughty Dog video game series will return at some point in April.

With The White Lotus Season 3 coming up in February, we’re inclined to believe it will premiere the week after that wraps.

Given how close we are to the premiere, you’d think HBO would just give the date away, but we’ll stay tuned for it.

“Five years after the events of the first season, Joel and Ellie are drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind,” the logline teases.

The cast of The Last of Us Season 2 includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria.

But that’s certainly not the last of them.

The Last of Us Season 2 Cast is Stacked

New cast members for this season include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac.

Catherine O’Hara has also snagged a guest-starring role, which we’re certain will go down well with her fans.

The second season will be based on The Last of Us Part II, which launched on the Playstation 4 in June 2020.

It scored countless awards and recognition for being such a massive technical achievement.

There were some polarizing elements of the story.

We won’t discuss them here because we wouldn’t want to spoil any parts for those who want to experience the narrative from the show for the first time.

There were some distinct changes from the original game and the freshman season, but for the most part, it was a 1:1 adaptation from the source material.

Viewers will meet Abby for the first time this season, who was one of the playable characters of the second game.

The Last of Us Season 2 Missed a Big Trick

Based on the teaser trailer alone, Kaitlyn is poised to turn in a riveting performance.

Kaitlyn has proven to be a multi-hyphenated talent after her roles in Last Man Standing Unbelievable and the alien flick No One Will Save You.

There’s no indication of how many seasons The Last of Us Part II will be televised, but it sure sounds like we’ll need more than one to do the story justice.

Hopefully, the series can expand on some of the game’s storylines, but we feel they’ve missed a trick by taking such a significant time jump between seasons.

Giving video game fans some time in the timeline between the two games could have greatly enhanced some of the bolder storytelling choices.
