Twisted Metal Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Twisted Metal, starring Anthony Mackie, has been renewed for Season 2.

Since the news that a second season would be in the show’s future, additional details have been trickling in slowly, but surely.

A few new tidbits surrounding the sophomore season have finally been revealed, giving us a bigger picture of what’s to come for Mackie’s John Doe and Quiet.

When will Season 2 drop? Stick around, and we’ll fill you in on everything we know about this crazy show!

Season 1 of the post-apocalyptic show debuted in July 2023, with all ten episodes released simultaneously. We’re guessing the show will do the same with the upcoming season.

Before we get into the details of what we know so far about Twisted Metal Season 2, let’s take a step back to when we last saw John Doe.

John Doe Proved His Worth In Twisted Metal Season 1

In the Season 1 finale, our kick-ass lead proved, well, that he was pretty kick-ass when he completed his mission, arriving to meet Raven at the gates of the settlement.

He would finally get the life he deserved. That dream fell out from underneath him, tattered and torn, much like the package he had delivered — ice cream. Seriously?!

The guy risked his life more than a dozen times for a pint of ice cream. When Raven declared it was the wrong flavor, I loathed her more.

Neve Campbell owns her role as the series baddie. Something I did not expect to see!

Ultimately, John is forced to stay in the settlement after Quiet shoots him. He is taken inside the walls for medical treatment.

John Doe isn’t much for the quiet life and is ready to leave after just a few short weeks of toaster strudels and uncomfortable social interaction.

When it looks like he is ready to hit the road once again, Raven points a gun at him. She needs him to be her driver in the Twisted Metal tournament.

We’re guessing Twisted Metal Season 2 will pick up from here.

Twisted Metal Season 2 Plot

Season 2 of the series will reportedly feature the dangerous Twisted Metal tournament, a competition hosted by Calypso featuring some of the best drivers from all over the post-apocalyptic world.

For those unaware, Calypso is an antagonist in the PlayStation video game world and the creator of the Twisted Metal tournament.

The tournament winner will have Calypso grant their wish. In this case, Raven plans to use John Doe. She wants him to drive in the race so she can win the grand prize.

Anthony Mackie has shared with fans that his character will have to make difficult decisions that will force him to face adulthood.

Three new characters will be introduced into the storyline. We are most excited to meet John Doe’s sister, Dollface. It is unclear at this point how much she will be featured in the new season.

Given John’s trouble remembering the past and his need to figure out where he comes from, we should see quite a bit of Dollface. In the video game, Dollface is a driver in the Darkside.

We’re guessing these two will be pitted against one another!

We will also meet Mr. Grimm and Axel. In the games, Mr. Grimm is the Grim Reaper. Let’s say he is likely to be gunning for John. Axel is also a driver who is imprisoned in his vehicle in the games.

Twisted Metal Season 2 Cast

When it comes to the second season, we know Anthony Mackie will be back as John Doe. Actress Stephanie Beatriz will also return to play Quiet, John’s feisty sidekick and love interest.

Neve Campbell will star once again as Raven. Will Arnett and Samoa Joe have also signed on to return together as Sweet Tooth.

Over the summer, showrunners added a number of new faces but have been mum about their roles.

Earlier this summer, it was announced that actors Richard de Klerk, Patty Guggenheim, and Tiana Okoye had joined the cast of Season 2.

A few months later, the Peacock series added three new faces: Michael James Shaw, Saylor Bell Curda, and Lisa Gilroy.

Anthony Carrigan of Barry fame has also been cast in Season 2 and is set to portray the big bad Calypso.

Carrigan is the only new cast member whose role has been revealed. Shaw is rumored to portray Axel, but official word on this has yet to be confirmed.

Twisted Metal Season 2 Premiere Date

Filming reportedly began this past July. In August, Anthony Mackie confirmed that the cast and crew were back together shooting. He shared several set photos on his Instagram, though Mackie didn’t give anything away.

In several photos, Mackie posed with his costar, Stephanie Beatriz, in two set chairs with the words Twisted Metal 2 stamped across the back.

After some bad weather in New Orleans affected filming for Season 1, the series is now filming in Toronto, Canada.

An official premiere date has yet to be announced. Season 2 is rumored to premiere in the summer of 2025.

Given the storyline, the big tournament, and the number of new cast members, this upcoming season will take additional time to create.
